This is from a recent test we did where they had not sealed under the skirting boards of an internal ground floor wall. I show this, for a couple of reasons. 1. I have never shared a video of what happens on a test, but I should do more often. 2. I think that it shows exactly what is happening when a simple fix is not employed in a build.
Test conditions were: Fan at 45% in a dwelling with an envelope of 354 cubic meters.
If you're able to seal the skirting boards, then do it, it ties the wall and floor together to help seal out the air entering the cavity. It can be the difference between an easy pass and an easy failure.
