Air Tightness Testing Top Tip of the Day 2

Just because it is out of sight, doesn't mean it's out of mind.

Gone are the days when you could cover something up with a kitchen unit and forget about it. I have seen too many situations where holes have been drilled into floor boards and not filled behind. If you drill a big hole to put a small pipe in and don't fill behind yourself, you've created yourself a huge problem. Especially if you then put a unit in that covers access to the hole for remedial action!

My Top Tip is to drill appropriate sized holes for your service penetrations and finish with mortar, mastic or foam to the edges.

If you do this, you will be limiting the amount of air entering your dwelling and thereby benefiting your overall score.

For more information or to book a test, call me on 01484 686649 or visit my website on http://www.hometestingyorkshire.co.uk/

I hope this helps,

Matt Hulsey
